What is Feng Shui, and why should it matter to you?

Feng Shui, as I define it, is the art of reading a property to determine the most likely outcomes, problems, and potentials for success for the occupants.

In the same way that a palm reader, or a face reader, looks at the physical body to determine one’s potential, a Feng Shui consultant looks at the structure and interior of a home or business.

Yes, it is a bit like fortune telling for your home!

By looking at the layout of the building, as well as the way it is decorated, the elements present, and the flow, an expert can determine what might be going on in a persons life.

Each area of a home represents a different aspect of your life. Some areas are related to wealth and prosperity, some to family matters and relationships, and some are attuned to your health and well being.

The Feng Shui designer or practitioner uses either compass directions, or the mouth of chi to lay a diagnostic tool called a bagua map over the property and then determines areas which may be problematic.

Areas that are congested, have the wrong balance of the 5 elements, or have particular design details known to cause trouble, are adjusted, or cured. These adjustments are chosen carefully and designed to balance out the disharmony.

It is important to know that the Feng Shui of your home is considered to influence about 30% of your overall “luck”, or potential. That means, if you are not paying attention to the conversation that you and your environment are having, you may be missing out on opportunities.
