Once we have ensured that energy, or chi, is coming into the home and circulating, we want to check for places where the energy might actually be moving too quickly. This fast moving chi is called Sha Chi and it is considered to be harmful. So, step 3 in creating our nurturing home is
Slow Down the Harmful Chi
Places like long and narrow hallways, stairways, angled walls and corners can all be areas where chi could be rushing too quickly. These places have chi, but it may not linger and nurture the occupants.
Image SourceSoften hallways by creating places where the eye can stop to rest, or at least slow down. Artwork can really help here, so can well proportioned and suitable furniture. See how this lovely antique settee encourages one to slow down? The plant helps too, so do the horizontal stripes in the carpet, and I love the way the shoes are kept off of the floor with these clever shelves.

In this hallway the artwork helps to break up the long hall encouraging you to slow down and investigate. The windows bring vital light to the hall too. I’d be willing to bet that no one ever sits in this chair though!
Image SourceSee how the banding on these rugs slows down the eye? Imagine it without them. This hallway has really rushing chi, and a host of other Feng Shui issues, but the designer has made a (likely unconscious) effort to implement remedies.
Wind Chimes, crystal spheres, plants and mobiles are other Feng Shui cures that can all help to soften fast moving chi too. They help to create a much smoother flow. Once that flow is regulated, not too fast and not too slow, we can move on to the next step, enhancing wealth.
Whhaaat?
Stay tuned.
