Ok, it’s over. The world hasn’t ended. We’ve made it through Hanukkah, Diwali, Christmas, or whatever else we may celebrate as the year draws to an end. We’ve come out of celebratory Sagittarius and have moved squarely into practical Capricorn. It’s time to pay off the bills, clean up the mess and get organized for another year. Ever notice that Rubbermaid bins are the first product to hit the shelves in January?
Besides the natural celestial energy that pulls us into this organizational frenzy, there are lots of great reasons to clear up the clutter at this time of the year. If you’ve read my post on The Difference Between Clutter and Mess, you know that I’m not a clutter busting freak. However, I do know that true clutter has a tangible negative effect on our lives.

Clutter in the home is reflective of some mental or emotional bond that we can’t let go of. When we can’t let go of our stuff, it is because there is something deeper that we don’t want to let go of. Clutter’s roots are based in fear and it steals a lot of energy that we could be putting toward a more free and productive life. A more free and productive 2013 sounds to me like a great idea!
So, for the next 27 days I will be challenging myself, and you, to clear our collective clutter, freeing us from the bonds of the stuff that holds us back. I will be taking one small step each day toward reducing my stuff, and will be posting on Facebook a simple daily action to help all of us start 2013 with a clear house and a clear mind.
Namaste
